Which grind to order
Whole beans or ground?
Whole beans if you own a grinder of any kind. Coffee loses most of its aroma within a day of grinding, so grinding at home is the single biggest upgrade you can make. Every guide here assumes you can adjust the grind.
Ground if you don’t. Our ground option is a medium grind that suits a plunger, a filter cone, a batch brewer or a stovetop. It is not fine enough for an espresso machine; for espresso, order whole beans and grind at the machine.
Buying ground? Choose the 250 g bag and use it within a few weeks of opening.
One rule
Sour means finer. Bitter means coarser.
Every method comes down to this. If the cup is sharp or thin, grind finer or brew a little longer or hotter. If it is harsh or drying, grind coarser or brew a little shorter or cooler. Change one thing at a time.
