What’s in the cup

How it tastes

Roast

Medium. Not too light, not too dark.

Notes

Caramel, milk chocolate, cardamom, creamy panna cotta.

Drinks as

Black, or with any milk — including plant-based.

Whole beans or ground?

Grind for your gear

Whole beans if you own a grinder of any kind: coffee loses most of its aroma within a day of grinding. Ground if you don’t. Our ground option is a medium grind.

Espresso machine
Whole beans

Espresso needs a fine, fresh grind that only a burr grinder at the machine can give.

Stovetop / moka
Ground

Our medium grind works as is. Whole beans: grind a little finer than filter.

Plunger
Ground

Works as is; steep three and a half minutes. Whole beans: grind coarse.

Filter or batch brewer
Ground

Made for it. No changes needed.

AeroPress
Ground

Steep two minutes instead of ninety seconds. Whole beans: grind medium-fine.

Pod or bean-to-cup
Whole beans

Bean-to-cup machines grind for you. Pod machines can’t use loose coffee.

Where it comes from

Three origins, one roast

Beans from Colombia, Brazil and Guatemala, blended and roasted medium. The beans change with the seasons as we source them; the roast profile never does. It’s the same coffee we pour from the cart at events across Sydney.

Description

Madison Ave Premium Blend is the coffee we pour from our carts at events across Sydney, in a bag for home. Beans from Colombia, Brazil and Guatemala, roasted medium: dark enough to hold up in a flat white, light enough to drink black without bitterness.

In the cup: caramel and milk chocolate first, a little cardamom behind them, and a soft, creamy finish. Strength 3 of 5. It works with any milk, including oat and almond.

Choose whole beans if you have a grinder; choose ground if you don’t (our ground option is a medium grind for plunger, filter, batch brewer or stovetop). The 250 g bag makes about 12 to 14 espressos or 8 plungers; the 1 kg bag about 50 espressos or 33 plungers.

Keep it sealed in the bag, away from heat and light, and use it within a month of opening.
